Today was the big day.

We’ve been planning on the annual Sexual Assault Awareness Month luncheon event for a couple of months. It’s a virtual event with registered attendees, a panel discussion, a live aerialist performance, and an awards ceremony.

And it’s mine to run, which is actually kind of comforting.

I started my work in live collaborative video performance back in the late 90’s, while in the Inter-Arts Technology program at the University of Wisconsin. Back then, the technology was rough; every time I watch a dance TikTok I get to give a curmudgeonly “yer welcome, kid because I was an early adopter who suffered through the dropped frames and green artifacts so that they don’t have to.

It also means I’m pretty good at planning ahead.

Bandwidth checks, registration emails, and equipment lists, oh my!

The tricksiest part of the broadcast was going to be the live performance — I’ve done many similar video shoots, but this was going to be with a lot of other moving parts. I tried for a while to figure out…
