Agreed, I'm not afraid of AI replacing cops, for example, I'm afraid of the politicians who think it would be a good idea to replace cops with AI.

Cops isn't a great example (ACAB) but I feel the same about anything AI is supposed to do/be: it's good at appearing competent, but in reality there's no there there.

Then again, I've been able to say that about more than a few co-workers...

I see a "good" use of AI being a basic-first-aid-enabled robot off in rural areas where it's hard to get consistent emergency service. Add in remote-piloting by actual EMTs and you have a tiered level of emergency medical support available in places it wasn't before.

But that doesn't have a profit model -- or worse, you end up with one EMT monitoring 20 robots, and a natural disaster hits, and...boom.
