Got a Deadline Coming Up? Here’s How to Keep Productivity From Tricking You Into Procrastinating.
Sure, to-do lists are great — but what’s on your not-to-do list?
Last November 30th was “Giving Tuesday” — a day after the hectic pace of Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, when nonprofits try to guilt people — whups, sorry, I mean invite people — to give some money towards making the world a better place.
Our nonprofit was no exception: Tuesday was the launch of our annual two-week fundraiser & charity auction. This time last year, we ended up raising a little over a million dollars after two weeks of streaming events, auctions, prizes, and more.
It’s tempting to avoid the overwhelming stress of a big project deadline.
The urge to procrastinate is strong. For me, overcoming basic procrastination is pretty simple. The only way out is thru! is instinctual (even though it’s not always true) and it’s just in my nature to charge at a problem head first.
But my brain gets tricky — it still wants to avoid the stress of a deadline, and so I’ve had to make a list of Things Gray is not allowed to do until after the deadline.
