I have “notion gardening” time set aside on my schedule on a regular basis. I agree with Dancy that it can be a meditative, even artful way to spend time. I don’t see it as anything different than the minutes I spend at the end of the day clearing off my desk or filing or deleting the things I downloaded during the day. Admittedly, I also manage the notion team space that we use (for 8 people) so there’s some aspects of helping others make it more useful.

Here’s my question: how do you measure that 20:40 ratio? I don’t know how to directly correlate “I spent 20 minutes making this more usable, so I have 40 minutes more productivity today.” How do you measure that without the measuring getting in the way?
