I Tried Thematic Writing for a Week, and I Hated It

The problem was in the execution — and I should have known better.

A week ago I talked about ways I was going to be changing around — “leveling up” — my writing.

It’s been a struggle — some of the things have not been done at all (I haven’t looked at stats, I didn’t submit to any publications) but one thing I did put some effort into was the content calendar and themed days.

In classic self-referential writing mode, I even wrote a post about that process:

…which fit in neatly with the theme for that day, which was creativity. I’m also technically following along with the theme for today (self-indulgent rambling) but it’s coincidental.

Scheduled creativity feels spiritually…
