I'm not good enough to pull out the numbers and studies and such, but I recall a financial video that talked about how the 1% consume so much that if the rest of us can't afford to buy things, the manufacturers/sellers won't care. That our economic footprint, basically, was so tiny in the big picture that when we can't afford/boycott something, it doesn't actually matter.

Sorry about being so vague, but I've got to get back to my nonprofit tech job...but have you heard of such an idea? And how does that factor into the layoffs?
