I’m Struggling to Keep My Schedule Simple
Why should something so basic be so difficult for me to do?
Last week was a week of major accomplishments for me.
For several months we’ve been going through a liminal process of relocating both homes and jobs, and last week we finally got out from under both the financial and scheduled stress.
We approached something that could be considered “normal”, and I have found it a wondrous place, free of time scarcity or money stress and with these lovely things called “sleep” and “work boundaries” and “coffee shops.”
I realized that I now had discretion in both time and budget to enjoy some things that I have given up in the past few months — years, even.
Here’s the list of things I miss:
- contact improv, tango, contra, and blues dance
- the Bodgery — a Madison maker space that is truly a wonderland, where I was involved in 3-d printing, laser engraving, and had just started woodworking.
- the Society for Creative Anachronism, a medieval reenactment group in which I was part of both vocal and instrumental music guilds as well serving as Deputy Dance Minister in Charge of Right and Left.
