The Universe is Dented Enough.
Maybe “disrupting” things isn’t as great an idea as we thought…
“We’re here to put a dent in the universe. Otherwise why else even be here?”
― Steve Jobs
Comic Strip Idea #478
PANEL ONE: a small planetoid, floating in space, with a retro-futuristic neon sign outside saying “UNIVERSAL BODY SHOP.” Garage door is open, empty.
PANEL TWO: Inside the shop, a bored alien sits at the counter. “Ring, ring” sound effect from phone at the side.
PANEL THREE: Alien is holding a tentacle over the phone, calling over it’s shoulder into the garage bay. “Hey, Al! That Earthy ‘verse is comin’ in again, get ready!”
PANEL FOUR: Outside view again, garage door closed. Voice-bubble coming out of the garage bay (Al’s voice, different lettering): “God damn it, Jobs! Not again!”
I dunno. I think it’s funny.
Can we stop with the denting, already?
What I don’t necessarily see as funny is the way that comment from Mr. Jobs has changed from a simple matter of being heard and making a difference to what seems to be a need to change things, not for improvement, but for change’s sake itself.
