There is an issue with this, though, which is to ask why should they? That whole marshmallow experiment only works if the person being tested has faith in the authority to deliver on the promised delayed gratification. Given the current state of the world and the economies, Most of Gen Z realizes that they cannot count on the same rewards that you and I got from delaying gratification. Personally, I think perhaps instead they have learned how to not be exploited as much as we were, and we have a tendency to resent them since it’s supposed to be our turn to exploit.
