The Daily Meeze is the best part of my day.

“Meeze” is the term Dan Charnas used for mis-en-place, the setting of tools and ingredients that chef’s use to make work in the kitchen efficient and, according to the book, even pleasant.

The entire system takes the metaphor to the extreme, but we tend to do that already. Anybody feel like there’s too much on their plate? What’s on your back burner? Did you run out of spoons? Everything In Its Place just extends this idea to methods for productivity — but not in a hustle-culture kind of way.

Productivity is not the solution to all problems….We need work and we need rest. We need periods of focus and also times of aimlessness. We need time for ourselves and time for others…Committing to productivity alone is like committing to only inhaling, never exhaling. That kind of commitment will kill you. — Dan Charnas
