Why is It So Hard to Figure Out Easy?
I keep trying to find that one magic to-do that takes care of it all.
There are a lot of flavors of productivity porn, but my particular variety is elegant minimalism.
I like the grayscale planners, the European-styled offices, the all-white desktop with a white leather planner and a white fountain pen (black ink, of course, I’m not bohemian). I envision sitting in my pristine and calm office easily managing deadlines and projects and networks of equally-peaceful-and-organized contacts, all of us in a virtual zen garden of productivity.
Reality, of course, is a second-hand desk not quite big enough for my keyboard and ipad and notebook, multiple tabs and windows and messaging apps, and a backlog of emails and to-dos that keep getting swept under the rug.
My one island of serene productive planning is my weekly review.
Every Friday at 2pm CT there is a sacred online zoom call where I review, take stock, and plan.
It’s a space hosted by “Datamaven” Sandra Halling. It comes with a Notion template she created to take us all through a retrospective of the week — our highs, lows, successes, fai — er, I mean, growth opportunities.
